Another Great Player Lost To Suicide

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

One of the top leading causes of death in the world is suicide, health authorities say. It has even reached the top 20 causes of death for all ages among countries. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about one million people kill themselves each year. At age of 42, Gary Speed, manager of the Wales national team, has called it quits. He was famous for being a great midfielder. Speed has never been tagged as someone who is depressed and has not even filed a Zoloft lawsuit on his life.

His death has elicited sighs of disbelief, not only from fans but also from close friends and family. Nobody has expected him to take his own life. He left a widow and two teenage sons to face questions about his death. Fans were left asking why. Speed has lived a truly remarkable life. His talent agent and close friend, Hayden Evans said that he never had any issues with depression. At around 7:00 in the morning, the wife of Speed, Louise, found her husband hanging in their garage. The reason behind the hanging of Speed was not shared to the public. It was on the BBC1 Football Focus show where the footballer was last seen. The presenter on BBC1, Dan Walker, shared the information that Speed was nothing but that Wales played under him made them won four to one which affirmed his managerial skills.

The untimely death of Gary Speed has caused an outpouring of tribute for the late footballer. Outside the house of Speed and the places where he used to play, tributes from mourning fans filled up space and piled up. Memorabilia, flowers, scarves and jerseys were the things that people were offering. They were also asking the press to stop sensationalizing his death as a gesture of respect to his family.
